In 2016 I attended Laracon EU in Amsterdam with a few team members from Netsells. Being able to both Adam Watham and Taylor Otwell has got to be one of the highlights. Being in such such an astounding environment, surrounded by fellow developers is such a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
This conference is where the annoucment of the Laravel Certification Program as announced, by none other than the creator of Laravel, Taylor Otwell. The program allows developers who have shown their experience and in depth knowledge in creating modern applications within Laravel to become globally recognised.
The exam covers Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patterns/principles such as SOLID and obviously some of the core concepts of Laravel; Routing, Blade Templating, Eloquent, Collections, Queues and Security. This sounds like a lot, but the website also says the following:
If your day job involves building Laravel applications, you’ll probably do fine. The exam is designed for you. That said, it’s probably a good idea to go over the Laravel documentation, and get a refresher.
However, I am taking the time just to read back through the documentation and even working on a side project to ensure that I have a firm understanding of all the core concepts before sitting the exam.
